“A superbly plotted, magical adventure with a strong cast of
memorable characters. Highly recommended to all fantasy fans!”

REVIEW
Loved this book! Yes, it's a bit of brick at 523 pp, but I enjoy long
novels. It allows the reader to fully get to know not just the
protagonists and antagonists, but the secondary characters too. It
also allows the author the 'room' to develop the fantasy world
which, in the case of this book, is very well done.
So, what did I enjoy the most? Well, the plot's good – which is
always a plus. It's the story of Escala, an outcast sent on a quest full
of danger, romance – and humour. She's a fab protagonist – brave,
tough, and a little bit crazy. Love her to bits! The writing style is
also excellent, the author successfully keeping the story moving
whilst developing his large(ish) cast of characters. Finally, being a
bit of a soppy fellow, I did enjoy the romance element very much.
The author cleverly allows it to develop naturally, so there's
always that 'will they, won't they' vibe which readers always
love.
So, who's the book for? Well, it has to be fantasy lovers,
particularly if they enjoy, say, Tricia O'Malley's Windsong novels
or the wonderful Court of Winter (which I just finished reading)
by Krista Street. Love that book! Escala's Wish truly is a story of
depth and drama with a 'classic' feel to it readers will love. All in
all, a bit of a gem!
